Expenses:
Expenses covered by the VFI / Sar-El
Program:
- Housing and meals during the work week (Sunday through Thursday)
- Ground transportation from airport to base or hospital (for arrivals on
Sunday and Monday, during normal business hours 8 am to 5 pm)
- Work clothes and boots on military bases
- Transportation for excursions
- Lectures and cultural activity in evenings on base
- Shabbat hospitality with host families (as available).
- Weekend accommodations in Sar-El's centrally located hostel (as space
is available)
Expenses paid by volunteer:
- VFI-USA application fee (possibly tax deductible; see Why
Choose VFI?)
- Current Application Fee: $80
- Returning Volunteer (within 365 days): $50
- Full-time Students: $50
- Round-trip airfare to Israel (possibly tax deductible; see Why
Choose VFI?)
- Ground transportation, accommodations, meals and incidentals for arrival
in Israel BEFORE program start, and/or staying in Israel AFTER program
- Ground transportation expenses for evenings, weekends, departure from
the base at the end of the program, and final departure from Israel
- Entrance fees for site-seeing arranged by Sar-El
- Weekend spending money for accommodations, meals, transportation, site-seeing,
shopping
- Pocket money for personal needs
- Health insurance coverage (see more details
